Poresta® floor-level shower systems with CE marking since 01.07.2013

Since 01.07.2013, Poresta® floor-level shower systems from poresta systems GmbH have featured the CE marking. This was issued as part of the granting of an ETA (European Technical Approval). The ETA was granted after tests carried out in accordance with ETAG 022 Part 3 ("Watertight covering kits for wet room floors and or walls") were completed successfully.

The CE marking is a symbol for the free trading of technical products in Europe and is therefore often referred to as a "passport" within the EEA (European Economic Area). It allows the comparison of all technical properties on a European level. This helps to eliminate technical trade barriers and ensures common safety standards throughout Europe.

With the CE marking, the manufacturer makes a declaration to its customers that it has taken into account all requirements of the relevant EU Directives and that its construction products possess the properties listed in the declaration of performance.

The fact that the new Construction Products Regulation (CPR) is effective from 01.07.2013 should also be mentioned in this context. The CPR requires manufacturers to submit and make accessible to customers a declaration of performance for all products which are subject to a harmonised European specification. For Poresta® floor-level shower systems, this declaration of performance is drawn up as part of the process to obtain the CE marking. The advantage of a product declaration of this type is that it moves away from subjective declarations where the manufacturer alone determines the content, towards comparable, official documents.

"In future, the CE marking will be standard for our shower systems," said Jens Wagenfeldt, Product Developer at poresta systems and the person responsible for certification in accordance with ETAG 022 Part 3. "As one of the leading innovators in the field of floor-level shower solutions, we are committed to providing consistently high quality which meets the very latest and most demanding technical standards and regulations. Thanks to the CE marking, our customers in the various European countries can now be certain that the requirements set out in the new Construction Products Regulation are complied with. At the same time, they know that they can rely on the quality of our products on a European level too – as confirmed by the relevant official bodies."

The entire certification process took two years and culminated in the certification of poresta's production areas and quality assurance division at its plant in Bad Wildungen, North Hesse. At poresta systems, quality checks have always been carried out in accordance with the highest quality standards. From now on, however, external audits of the company's own production checks will be repeated at yearly intervals.
